180 Minutes to Fight For, Thomas Dennerby Insist Super Falcons Are Not Out of 2019 FIFA Women World Cup In France


Super Falcons showed determination to fight till the end despite their 3-0 defeat to Norway in their opening game at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France,

The African champions put up a good fight in the encounter against Norwegian ladies,  after conceding  three goals (2 own goals and a defensive error) in the first half, came back from the break fighting like wounded lions, but couldn't stage a comeback.

There's still 180 minutes to fight for, plus added time. Anything can happen in the matches against South Korea and France, Super Falcons coach Thomas Dennerby insist Super Falcons are still very much in contention to qualify from thr group stage of the on going

The West Africans will face South Korea in their next Group A fixture in Grenoble on Wednesday.


 Dennerby said the Nigeria ladies has overcame initial fright, are now more confident and determined to compete... The ladies have agreed to play the match of their life, in the next 180 minutes. We are going to make some tactical changes and see what happens.

A defeat in the game would end the ambition of Nigeria making it to the Round of 16.

“We’re going to go back and look at our mistakes and work on them. The second game will be better than the first,”  Assisat Oshoala, two times African woman footballer of the year and BBC World Woman footballer, told our correspondent in France.

“We’ve learned so much from this first game and we’ll come back. We have to win the second game (against Korea Republic), and we’ll do all we can to win.”
