SUPER EAGLES: Where are the Six Home Based Players that Won AFCON 2013?
After African
Cup of nations (AFCON ) 2013 win, most football watchers felt that top clubs around
the world would quickly grab the six home based players in the Super Eagles squad.
Perhaps, it's
too early to say, we should have waited after the summer transfer market to find
out how the players are doing. But due to frequently asked questions from our fans,
who want to know the where about of these boys, we decided to conduct a quick search.
And here is what we found about the six players.
1. footballsports.com Report that Ejike Uzoenyi
Has Signed for Rennes in France: The 24 years old former Enugu Rangers player,
Ejike Uzoenyi signed a contract which is said to worth about 1.8 million Euros.
As you may know,
Rennes compete in the French Championaire and also has in their team Onyekachi Apam.
2. BBC Sports report that Reuben Gabriel has sign
for Kilmarnock: The 22 years old, former kano Pillars Attacking midfielder,
Reuben Gabriel signed a deal with scotish 1st division club side - Kilmarnock. He
signed along side with his Kano Pillars team mate, Papa Idris, who was dropped from
the Super Eagles' AFCON squad.
Kilmarnock have
in their team, Rabiu Ibrahaim, also one of the players dropped from the Super Eagles
AFCON 2013 squad

3. Skysports report that Godfrey Oboabona has secured
a Trial with Arsenal FC: The 22 years old Sunshine stars player, Godfrey Oboabona
secured an invitation letter to try out at Arsenal in a deal valued at 1 million
pounds.
But as at the
time of writing this post, I didn't have information if he has gone for the trials
or not.
4. Goal.com report the controversy going on with
Sunday Mba's Career: The prospect of Sunday Mba's transfer is now in limbo,
as many of the foreign clubs are withdrawing their interest. The reason is they
don't know which of the clubs to negotiate with.
NFF/ NPFL has
come out to declare that Mba is a bonafide player of Warri Wolves and if Enugu Rangers
is interested in him, they should negotiate with Warri Wolve.
Mean while, Warri
wolves has placed a transfer fees tag of N8 million Naira on Mba, which Rangers
seem not ready to pay and the player just hang on since the beginning of the Nigerian
League.
5. Daily Mirror report that Chigozie Agbin has
signed for Enugu Rangers: The 28 yeard old former Warri Wolves goal keeper
has completed his tranfer to Enugu Rangers even before the AFCON 2013
tournament. He is already manning the post for the Enugu team in the ongoing
Caf Champions league.
Many analyst
believe that Agbin may not be too keen in securing a transfer abroad since he
is combining Football with his education. He is a Phd student of University of Minnesota.
But one of the insider said Agbin has already open talks with some Israelite
clubs.

Mirror report that Azubuike Egwuekwe
still play for Warri Wolves: The
23 years old defender still play for Warri Wolves. He is the current captain of
the Solomon Ogbeide tutored side. Not much have been reported about his
transfer intentions to any foreign club.
