Post-Match Review – Nigeria Vs
Argentina
Argentina
national team manager, Alejandro Sabella exclaimed at the post match interview:
“You don’t mess with this Nigerian team!” Perhaps, Super Eagles gave him a
scare of his life as Sabella was on his toes all through the match that saw
Argentina defeat Nigeria by 3 – 2.
Musa Replied Messi Twice
In the
pre-match analysis on this blog, I warned that if you don’t have the heart
don’t watch the game between Nigeria Vs Argentina. Indeed, as I predicted, the
match was a spectacle of attack and counter attack. Perhaps, the scariest match
ever played so far in this world cup.
Although,
Argentina coming into the match had already qualified for the round of 16 and
Nigeria only needed a draw or have Bosnia draw with Iran to qualify. Gush! You
would have thought it was the world cup finals.
Perhaps,
Lionel Messi , Argentine captain wanted to make a goal statement. Argentine
fans have already put up a banner “It is Messi’s World Cup!” So he is ready to
show that he is still the best.
But anytime
Messi scored in the match, Nigeria’s speed racer, Ahmed Musa, replied back with
some spectacular strikes. Both players scored two goals apiece for their
respective teams. But Rojo was to decide the game off a goal mount scramble.
Indeed, it could have been anybody’s game. Argentina only got lucky to win this
one.
Nigeria on the High to Win
Many
analysts said both Nigeria and Argentina played to avoid the vicious attacking
power France has shown in the world cup so far. But I say, France players may
have pee on their pants after they saw that match between Nigeria and
Argentina. That was a glimpse of what the Nigerian team can rise up to do.
Former Super
Eagles technical Adviser, Clemence Westerhof went on to say: “When a Nigeria
team gains confidence and are highly motivated, then no team on earth can stop
them anymore. Watch out, we may just have a new world champions from Africa.”
The match
against Argentina has given Nigerian team more confidence to believe in
themselves. Now, they are more ready to go all the way to win the world cup.
Pre-Match Analysis – France Vs
Nigeria
Castrol
Footkhana ranked France as the best attacking team so far in 2014 world cup.
The French side made 62 attempts on goal. It scored 7 goals, 13 shots blocked,
19 shot saved and 23 attempt off-targets. Castrol also ranked the French
striker, Benzema , as the best player so far with 9.77points.
France is
the fastest attacking side that could disparate any defense line at will.
However, they may also be watching their back against a team like Nigeria,
since this is a knock out stage.
I believe,
Didier Deschamps men would want to approach the round of 16-match against
Nigeria with lots of caution. But they also know their attackers would have to
do more to beat OS Lille and Nigerian goal keeper, Vincent Enyeama, who
coincidentally was also named the best goalkeeper of the world cup so far with
9.59 points.
I think
Nigerian team would be more adventurous on the attack, to see if it could get
an early goal and perhaps, score one or two more to seal the game. If that
happens, then the French team is in for a big show down!
