FC IfeanyiUbah Pulls Down NPFL - Blames Over-zealous Team Manager for the Abandoned Star-Match on A Global TV
The opening game of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL)
2016/17 season between Kano Pillars and FC IfeanyiUbah at the Sani Abacha
Stadium Kano was abandoned following a protest by the Anambra Warriors,
The hosts were leading 1-0 with a goal scored by
Gambo Mohammed, 30 minutes of the game before the incident.
The game was forced to stop on a controversial note
with the centre referee Folusho Ajayi disallowing what FC IfeanyiUbah insisted
was a legitimate goal at the point of the break.
The Second half later resumed but was abandoned five minutes after, when referee Ajayi sent an
FC IfeanyiUbah official into the stands for unsportsmanlike behavior with the
away side refusing to continue play despite pleas by the match commissioner.
The Management of ifeanyiubah has since apologized in
a press release, condemning the unsportsmanlike act of their Team Manager,
Jonathan Igwe, which has been Suspended... But we still await LMC official statement on the matter
