7 Hottest Nigerian Football Players at the Moment (From January - March 2017)

Starting from the first quarter, we will always serve you with our quarterly ranking of the 7 hottest players of the quarter.

Our verdict will be the decisions of the ranking committee after extensive research on what coaches and fans are saying...

We go around conducting the Popular-side interviews with fans on Nigerian streets and neighborhoods...to find out their choices for this quarter.

Meanwhile, this is what we got... and our verdict is listed here in descending order...

Of course, you have the right to agree or disagree with our choices. Let's read your comments below.

Here is the list of our 7 Hottest Nigerian Players this first quarter 2017.  I am personally excited that two home boys from MFM fc made the list:

7. Vincent Enyeama (OSC Lille)
Too Good: Vincent Enyeama: Relegation-threatened OSC Lille lost at home to fifth-placed Bordeaux and Vincent Enyeama let in three goals.

However, that shouldn’t mask an awe-inspiring performance by the shot-stopper, who was at his imperious best and kept the score respectable for the hosts, who had a man sent-off for a third consecutive game.

Enyeama was in breathtaking form for Les Dogues as he rolled back the years to deny the visitors Considering Ikeme’s recent struggles at Wolves, should Gernot Rohr do more to woo the veteran back to the Super Eagles fold?

6. Skiru Olatunbosun (MFM FC)
The MFM FC attacking midfielder was the talk of the international media when he scored a Puska Contender against Enugu Rangers at Agege stadium Friday night of NPFL week 8 fixture. The goal won CNN goal of the week award.

Olatunbosun lethal combination with star striker Stephen Odey has deliver 13 goals in 10 matches between them. He has scored 3 goals and 4 assist, making him one of the most sought after player in Nigeria today.

Skiru Olatunbosun is a player you can depend upon to win a match for you. With what he is already doing with Stephen Odey, you can be rest assure we will go places this season." MFM Coach Irechukwu declared.

5. Alex Iwobi (Arsenal)
Martin Keown has hailed Alex Iwobi for his efforts in the central attacking-midfield position in Arsenal‘s win over Crystal Palace and wonders if Arsene Wenger has stumbled upon his best team.

While Iwobi’s name on the team-sheet wasn’t a surprise on Sunday ahead of the Premier League encounter at the Emirates Stadium the role the 20-year-old took up – just behind Olivier Giroud – did come as a slight shock, but it paid off.

Many feel the Nigerian golden boy have been play out of his most suited position... and that had made him struggle a bit at the run of second round league fixtures this year. But when played he has usually shown a rare quality due to become one of the best in top flight football.

4. Stephen Odey (MFM FC)
When Mountain of Fire and 88 88 FC narrowly avoided the drop from the Nigerian Professional Football League last season, few were surprised that the new boys had flown close to the wind.

However, they've learned their lessons and have began the new season strongly, with star forward Stephen Odey performing with the kind of class that suggests that MFM FC are set for a more successful campaign this time around.

The Olukoya Boys secured a hard-fought 2-1 home victory against table toppers Plateau United thanks to an Odey brace which took his tally for the season to 10 goals. He bagged nine goals for the whole of last season but to reach double digits already after just 10 games highlights the youngster's quality. The win also lifts MFM up to second place, one point from the summit of the NPFL table with a game in hand.

Believe it. This is our discovery and verdict, Stephen Odey is tje best player in world in the like and shape of Cristano Ronaldo..." MFM Head Coach Irechukwu acclaimed.

3. Fanendo Adi (Portland Timbers)
The Portland Timbers were already in control as they headed into the closing minutes of their season opener against Minnesota United on March 15.

But Fanendo Adi was just getting started to impose himself in the game.

After showing off his physicality and ability to hold up the ball as he battled with Minnesota's center backs throughout most of the match, Adi demonstrated another side of his game in stoppage time, beating goalkeeper John Alvbage with two deft touches before slotting in his first goal of the night. He found another goal two minutes later, dribbling from midfield into the box before faking out defender Vadim Demidov with a few skillful moves and driving a shot into the net to give the Timbers a 5-1 win . His performance earned him a spot on the MLS Team of the Week.

"He had become a very complete player," Timbers coach Caleb Porter said. "Not many players have the physical tools that he has in terms of size and mobility. Usually you get a guy that has his size and they're not very mobile. He has a rare combination of size and speed... I wouldn't trade him for anyone in the league.

2. Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City)
At the centre of everything good in Leicester City is Wilfred Ndidi... Controling and organizing the defence line, stablizing the middle as well as starting and joining attack is the hallmark of this indefatible Nigerian central midfielder...

“Ndidi gave it everything he had, and gave the fans a class they have always desired,” fellow Nigerian striker Ahmed Musa wrote on Twitter after Leicester City progressed to the quarter-final of the Champions League with a 2-0 win over Sevilla on Tuesday, March 14.

Trailing 2-1 from the first leg, Leicester City did everything right on the night to get a 2-0 win. The defense was tight, the midfield was compact while attack pushed Sevilla all through the match.

On the night, the 20-year-old Ndidi was the pivot for both Leicester City’s defending and attacking. When Leicester City was without the ball he became a defender, when they were in possession he became a midfielder, managing to keep his line to prevent any counter attack from Sevilla.

For Leicester City first goal, Ndidi attacked a free-kick causing chaos in the Sevilla box to allow his captain Wes Morgan to score.

His imperious performance in the middle of the park allowed Danny Drinkwater and Marc Albrighton to push Sevilla backwards. Albrighton scored Leicester City’s second goal of the night. But Ndidi has become an instant success and indeed, the best player brought in by Claudio Raneri.

1. Victor Moses (Chelsea)
Moses has revitalized his career this season in a new wing-back role in Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 formation.

The Nigeria international has proved to be a dependable player in defense while also providing the Blues with another attacking option. Moses’ performances have surprised many with the 25-year-old up to now struggling to make an impact at Stamford Bridge.

"Moses is a complete player and have the versatility of playing both as attacking midfielder, a defensive wing back or a playmaker." Chelsea's manager Conte said. "He can be a quick fix for the team, to plug in any loop whole during the game, his ball intelligence is incredible."

Moses contributed so much in the current success Chelsea has been enjoying in the Premier league this season - he has netted four goals already.
