Vincent Enyeama Return to Super Eagles - Tell Your Own Opinion?
Well, if Gernot Rohr says he needs him to return to Super Eagles, then NFF should bury the hatchet, and work towards bringing him back.
Peter Rufai said a VIP delegate should be dispatched to Enyeama... to let him know that his country still need his services. According to Rufai, Enyeama is still in form and good to go... and we can't afford to gamble with the goalkeeping position when we have his experience. He is by far better and more experienced than any of the goalkeepers we have now.
Goalkeeping is different from any other position in the field of play. Goal keepers get better with age and experience. If Gianiluca Buffon at 49 years, is still the goalkeeper of the Italian national team and high flying Juventus team, why not Enyeama, if he is still in top form?
Following the policy guiding who should be Super Eagles Captain, I feel Mikel Obi should humbly hand over the captain's band back to Enyeama (as the longest serving Eagles player) just the way Ahmed Musa did to him. Well, that's my suggestion anyway.
Some school of thought does not agree with Rufai. They believe it will backfire if Enyeama is treated as an untouchable, indespensible player of the Supet Eagles. Knowing his personal disposition to always act with pride, that might be counter productive...and affect the high team spirit in the Super Eagles camp rightnow.
Enyeama can't give his country conditions for his return or hold Nigeria to ransome. A normal call up letter should be dispatched to him...and it is his choice to decide whether to return or not. We shouldn't demoralize Ikeme and Akpeyi, and make it look like they cannot hold their own in manning the goal post for Super Eagles quest and tasks ahead.
