Amalinze the Cat, The Wonder Goalkeeper Who Denied Heartland Imo State FA Cup - SamDaddy's Fairytale


The goalkeeper of SamDaddy FC popularly known as Amalinze the Cat is perhaps the revelation of Imo FA Cup  this year 2017.

The young man of about 19 years or so,  stood between the goal post and everyone opponent the team played against, diving full length in such an acrobatic display that keep the fans roaring and cheering.

Amalinze became the hero of Imo state FA Cup finals against Heartland. stopping over five goal bound moves by the Naze millionnaires...and punching away the penalty that saw SamDaddy clinch Imo FA Cup this year.

Non-league SamDaddy FC from Amaimo in Ikeduru local government and financed by Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu aka SamDaddy caused one of the biggest shock results in the State FA Cup finals when they won the Imo State cup competition at the expense of NNL side Heartland.


Both teams were tied at 1-1 after regulation time before the giant killers SamDaddy kept their nerves to clinch the prestigious FA Cup 4-3 on penalties. And it was Amalinze the Cat that stood out to give the fans memorable display they cannot forget in a long while.

Both teams will represent Imo State in the national draw of the cup competition.

It’s a fairy tale story for SamDaddy as they were only formed in December and this is their first outing in the FA Cup.

They are handled by former Dolphins and Sharks coach George Onyenekwe (coach Bahardor) with Collins Akujobi as team secretary.


SamDaddy FC are an initiative by Senator Anyanwu, who is representing Imo East, to empower teeming youths in the state and beyond. He is planning a professionally run academy in the local government soon.
