Hapoel Be'er Sheva striker, Anthony Nwakaeme has been voted the best player in the 2016/2017 Israeli top flight... John Ogu, his teammate confirmed to us.
Nigerian star has a great season, helping Hapoel Be'er Sheva to retain the league title. He scored 14 goals in 32 league appearances for the champions this season.
Celebrating Nwakaeme's choice as the league's best player, JohnOgu, teammate and Super Eagles midfielder...who has also been a key player for Hapoel wrote on Twitter on Saturday:
"I'm so proud of my friend turned brother TONY NWAKAEME. Voted the best player in the league. Well deserved."
Hapoel were confirmed champions after they defeated Maccabi Tel Aviv 2-1 away from home last Saturday in the Championship play-offs with three games to spare. And it was Ogu that scored the winning goal for Hapoel to seal the win and the title.
It was his first goal after 29 league appearances this season for Hapoel.
In Hapoel's remaining play-offs games, they will host Maccabi Petah Tikva on Monday, play Beitar Jerusalem next Friday, before rounding off with a home game against Bnei Sakhnin on Friday, 19th May.
