Emmanuel Amuneke Sign Two Years Deal as New Head Coach of Tanzania National Team
The Tanzania Football Federation has
announced the appointment of former Nigerian winger, Emmanuel Amuneke as the
new head coach of the Taifa Stars.
Amuneke penned a two-year contract
with the TFF on Monday. His salary will be bankrolled by Serengeti Beer.
The former Barcelona winger
immediate task will be to help the Taifa Stars qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup
of Nations in Cameroon.
His first official game will be
September 7th, 2019 AFCON qualifier against Uganda in Kampala.
Tanzania was held to a draw in Dar
es Salaam by Lesotho in their first Group L clash.
“I’m ready for this big task.
Tanzania is not one of the top footballing nation in Africa but I hope to
transform the Taifa Stars to a good team,” Amuneke told CSN prior to his
unveiling on Monday.
Amuneke who last handled Sudanese
club, Al Khartoum SC was a member of the FIFA Tecchical Study group at the 2018
FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The 47-year-old was capped 27 times
by Nigeria. He was a member of the Super Eagles side that won the 1994 AFCON
title in Tunisia.
