Chelsea Fans in Nigeria Push the Limit of Passion - As their Darling Team Wins 2021 UEFA Champions league

The furniture maker in my area closed shop as early as 4pm and by 6pm he was already glad in blue and white costume: Chelsea brand face cap, white singlet, hanging round his neck a Chelsea brand muffler and wrapped round his waist was a Chelsea towel or was it flag...as he started to head towards the most popular viewing center in Ojodu to watch the UEFA Champions League which was meant to kick-off two hours later by 8pm.

I earlier in the day saw a man printing his cow Chelsea logo and got every passer by attention. It was his own way of showing his passionate support for Chelsea FC in anticipation of the finals. Most Chelsea fans were confident their team would triumph our Manchester City.

It wasn't a surprise at all. Chelsea enjoy the largest fans following in Nigeria, estimate to be about 10 million active fans. It truly turned out to be their day.

. The Blues claimed the European title for the second time after defeating Pep Guardiola’s Citizens on Saturday night. Chelsea’s Uefa Champions League triumph has sent social media into a frenzy.

The Stamford Bridge giants were crowned as European champions having silenced Manchester City 1-0 at Porto’s Estadio do Dragao.

Kai Havertz’s first-half effort settled the encounter with Pep Guardiola’s men labouring in vain while trying to get the equaliser.

Thanks to the Blues’ win, they have now won the tournament for the second time in their history.
