See Innovative Ways This Youth Football Academy Is Doing Big Things for their Community [Playing for Good]

Tackling Child Labour, Bullying, Racism and turning Teens to Mentors

Khalsa Youth Football Academy launched in 1988 to address the under-representation of the Asian community in the sport, but it’s evolved into much more than that, including its newly launched "Connecting Hope initiative" to turn local teens into mentors.

Co-founder Bal Singhs says: “It’s great we can participate in sport – that’s the hook – but then we can also address key issues in society. We’ve worked to tackle taboo subjects such as sexual grooming, bullying and racism.”

Connecting Hope was made possible thanks to funding raised through The Health Lottery, which supports 3,200 grassroots projects throughout Great Britain. Whenever you buy a ticket, you’re helping to raise much-needed funds for good causes – and, of course, you’re in with a chance of winning a cash prize.

£157million has been won so far, with £121 million going to good causes. Tickets cost just £1, and you can buy them online, in-store or on your mobile.
