2021 Popular Side Awards | Nigerian Player of the Year - How Football Fans Voted Online
Popular Side Awards is a kind of mock Nigeria Football Awards aimed at capturing the votes and opinions of the ordinary fans out there.
Popular Side Awards is organized by GreenHunters Sports International, a sport marketing company in Lagos Nigeria. We believe that the fans are the real consumers of the sport and should have a serious stake in voting the yearly award winners.
Nigeria Football Awards uses a different criteria in voting with coaches, team captains and selected sports journalists. Popular side has always provided an equalizer for the organizers.
In this year's edition, over one million Nigerian football fans voted online, which we think were enough sample size to authenticate the outcome of our counting.
Of course, Nigeria Player of the Year Award will always have it's controversy. And in this year, it was strong contest between Paul Onuachu, Victor Osimhen and Wilfred Ndidi. As always, it has to be settled in someway.
