Where are these players from? Another Planet? No!, As a good scout, you could trace the map down to West Africa. It's not an exerggeration, the region has always produced some football greats, George Weah, FIFA player of the year 1995. Then, Nwankwo Kanu, Rashidi Yekini, Victor Ikpeba, Abedi Pele, Tony Yeboah, Titi Kamara... It's clear that West Africa harbors the greatest football talents on African continent. This is evident in the number of Africa football player of the year awardees from the region.

It's difficult to estimate the Value, but Churchill Oliseh, a scout and owner of Ebiede FC in Nigeria, describes the depth of talents available in the region, "I travel across West Africa to watch Youth football and the talents I see if properly harnessed can be valued at billions of Dollars." Perhaps, he brings to bear how much the football industry is loosing by not properly harnessing this great treasure.

                                                           ADVERTISMENT

At young age of 13 - 15, these lads are already on the streets of Lagos, Accra, Abidjan, Mourovia, and the hitherlands displaying awesome football artistry. But there's no scout out there to watch and to discover the raw gems among them. There's no one to take them to a standard football academies where their skills could be refined for top level football competition.

Unfortunately, some of these potential stars in our ashante towns may never be discovered. Some of them derail into other vocations, why some take to vices, drug addiction, Robbery, kidnapping, Militancy and rebel recruits.

Well, if you are in the scouting business, I want you to look this way. Take a trip to a West African country like Nigeria, you will be amazed at what you will see. The football talents here has been harnessed at minimal level. There are more George Weah, Nwankwo Kanu, Didier Drogba, in this side of Africa -This is gold deposits waiting to be mined.
