The Best Moment of Football in 2016 - Here in Nigeria

The fans love their national team Super Eagles and always came out to support them in the qualifiers. Perhaps, the overwhelming crowd that turn up at Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna, in the 2017 Afcon qualifiers  between Nigeria Vs Egypt...nearly caused a stampede.

Then, the 2018 FIFA world cup qualifiers between Nigeria Vs Algeria at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium Akwa Ibom is yet anothet great moments of football entertainment here in Nigeria in 2016.

But ranking all the games in 2016, we choose Npfl final day match between Enugu Rangers Vs El Kanemi as our best moment of football in the year. The game scored high in all ramifications attendances, entertainment, merchandise and confectionary sales, Tv viewership, social media participations...

Enugu Rangers not only had millions of fans around the world rooting for the title-starved club to finally break through and end its 32-year Nigeria elite League drought, but it also had the impassionate support of the Igbo race from the East.

Some of the best tributes came in the form of attendance, every true son of Biafra must show up to support their own. Over 58, 000 supporters beseiged the 30, 000 capacity Nnamdi Azikwe stadium Enugu. all glad in white and red robes, singing holy! holy! holy! holy!

And there was no way the opponent El Kanemi could spoil such party. The motivation was too much and the support too intimidating. Legendary players like. Christian Chukwu, Emmanuel Okala, Louis Igwilo, Nwankwo Kanu, Emma and Austin Okocha... join in the celebration at the Nike avenue

Many more joined on Twitter... Emeka Nwani, Emeka Anyadike,  China Achero, my humble self #HolyHoly, #EnuguRangers went viral on the day.

That's how it should be. But never have we seen Nigeria Professional Football league title being celebrated in such a grandiocious style. There was even players parade around Enugu... Now, don't look at the trailer, just join the train.

Government, Companies based in Enugu and other parts of Nigeria finally got their chance to toast the Flying Antelopes, the legendary club many generations of the Igbo people have prayed for to finally win the League Cup... and to extend their victory  to Africa come 2017.

Players were rewarded with cash and plots of land... the Coaching contract were renewed and made more lucrative. Something we keep savoring as we get into 2017.
