Nigerian Teams Zoom into CAF Champions League Second Round - On A Mix Continental Outing

Nigeria teams competing in the Caf Champions league this season took off on a bright note, but it isn't the same story for the billionaire club IfeanyiUbah.

Rivers United
Rivers United progressed to the second round of the Caf Champions League in style on Sunday after they hammered AS Bamako 4-0.

Stanley Eguma’s men would have qualified with a goalless draw after a commendable draw in Bamako, but the Pride of Port Harcourt, fuelled by a thunderous home support subdued Pascal Pons’ team.

Bernard Ovoke and Esosa Igbinoba masterminded the victory by getting on the scorers’ sheet twice in the keenly contested encounted.

With this, Rivers United must now negotiate their way past Sudan’s Al-Merreikh .

Enugu Rangers
Nigeria’s other representative in this championship, Enugu Rangers managed a goaless 0-0 draw at Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium just enough to oust Jeunesse Sportive de Saoura... to reach the next round on away goal rule. The first leg in Algeria had ended 1 - 1

The Flying Antelopes will now face Zamalek of Egypt in the second round to stand a chance of reaching the money spinning group stage.

FC IfeanyiUbah
It wasn’t the same story for FC IfeanyiUbah. After a goaless draw both home and away against Al Masry, the game was then decided on penalty in Egypt. It was like a spell as none IfeanyUbah players were able to put away their own kick.

And game ended 3 – 0. That was how the cookie crumbled. It was "Good Night" for FC IfeanyiUbah's Big dreams.
