Emmanuel Amuneke To Work With FIFA'sTechnical Study Group In Russia 2018 World Cup


FIFA have named former international Emmanuel Amuneke as a member of their technical study group for the Russia 2018 World Cup,

Amunike confirmed this to the media lastThursday.
“I’ve been notified. We’re filing the papers and I must commend FIFA for appointing me to undertake such responsibility”, Amuneke said.

Amunike played for Zamalek of Egypt, Sporting Lisbon of Portugal and FC Barcelona among other clubs. He won AFCON trophy with the Super Eagles in 1994. He Awarded The African Player of the Year in 1995. He went on to win Olympic gold medal with The Dream Team in Atlanta 1996.

He retired from active football due to reocurring injuries. and went on to become assistant coach to Manu Garba's Nigeria U17 national team that won the FIFA World Cup in UAE 2013. Then he was appointed the head coach of the U17 Golden Eaglets that retained the global silverware in Chile in 2015, drawing attention of FIFA with the teams extraordinary scintillating play.

 Amunieke has a UEFA Coaching license and the his involvement with the FIFA study grouo is a plus for his future appointment with Nigeria national team.
