No Contest, Mo Salah Will Win Again - 2018 CAF African Footballer of the Year Award.

One thing as sure as night and day is the reigning African footballer of year, Mohammed Salah of Egypt, winning the CAF award again this year 2018.

There's no contest this time around, not because most African stars didn't do well. No!

Mo Salah was not just outstanding, his performances were incredible for his clubside Liverpool. He finished last season with 56 goals in all competitions leading Liverpool to UEFA Champions league final and top three in the Premier League.

Though, injury inhibited his performance at Russia 2018 Fifa World Cup and Egypt didn't make such impact as expected, but Mo Salah's performances in other competitions were enough for him to make the last three norminees (Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric and Mohammed Salah) for Ballon D'Or. And some pundits believe Salah has a real chance of winning the world footballer of the year 2018.

The only African players that has gotten this far at Ballon D'Or Awards are George Opong Weah of Liberia, who won the Award in 1985 and Samuel O'Eto of Cameroon, who got to the last three norminees in 2002.

Indeed, if there should be any contest at all this year, it would be from his compatriot at Liverpool Sadiq Mane of Senegal, who also was the runner-up at the CAF Award last year 2017. Mane did so well both for club and country this year, but the incredulous performance of Mo Salah usurped all that.

Well, for normination sake, we expect some Nigerian players like Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Wilfred Ndidi, Ahmed Musa to also get to be mentioned during the CAF Awards that usually hold in January.
