Former Super Eagles and Derby County defender Efe
Ambrose is eager to make his debut for the Rams in Saturday’s clash at home
against relegation battlers Rotherham United, who have Semi Ajayi in their
ranks,
Ambrose mutually terminated his contract with
Scottish Premier League side Hibernian in January before completing his move to
Derby in the English Championship side but he has failed to make the match day
squad for Frank Lampard’s side since he arrived.
“I’ve been working hard and patiently waiting for my
chance to make my debut for the team,” Ambrose told our correspondence
“Hopefully, in our next game against Rotherham
United, I could be in, you never know.”“We still believe we can finish in a
better position, but we have to work harder and see off games well.”
Derby, with a game in hand, is 11 points off the
promotion play-off spot in the English Championship this season.
The Nigeria international was also pleased to see
the Super Eagles seal their Africa Cup of Nations qualifications on a winning
note. The Super beat Seychelles 3-1 to finish top of the group D with 13 points
one ahead of South Africa who are second.
“The wins against Seychelles and Egypt were good for
the team and they must build on this consistency,” Ambrose added.
