AS Roma Football Academy Abuja was established and started operation in Nigeria, on December 14, 2020.

The AS Roma Academy Abuja is one of the AS Roma Academy official network of football schools around the world dedicated to all boys and girls, aged between 5 – 17 years old, which offers the opportunity to learn the methodologies and training techniques that inspired talented players such as Francesco Totti, Daniele De Rossi, Alessandro Florenzi and Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Recognised throughout the world for the quality of its youth team, our AS Roma International Academy program stands for our dedication to training young players in sports and education, transmitting the club’s work philosophy and values to the rest of the world.

Training Experience

The AS Roma Training Experience is a unique opportunity for  players to receive & develop their physical, technical, and tactical qualities through professional coaching at the AS Roma headquarters located in Rome. 

Players will take part in engaging and innovative sessions, giving them an insight into how AS Roma teams train and play on a daily basis, while also getting the opportunity to play against AS Roma youth teams. 

The experience also includes a culturally unforgettable time visiting and touring one of the most beautiful cities in the world: ROME, attending an AS Roma match, and many more activities that both parents and players will love.

Technical Director

John Obuh, former Nigeria U17 national team coach as Technical Director

Obuh has distinguished himself in the area of youth development in the football environment, having led Nigeria to finish as runners-up at the 2009 Fifa U17 World Cup on home soil. He has a CAF and UEFA Grade-A license with vast experience in youth football development. He was also the former coach of NPFL sides, Akwa United, Enugu Rangers...

Andre Joao Castro,  Lisboa Portugal, UEFA Grade-B licensed coach, level 1 in Talent Identification and youth players development, FA English football League.

The Moshood Abiola National Stadium is a multipurpose national sports stadium located in Abuja, in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria. The stadium serves as a home to the Nigerian national football team, as well as a center for various social, cultural, and religious events.

This facility serve as the temporary location for the academy's training and programs in their One 11-a-side pitch.

The Elite Squad Project 

The Elite Squad is a unique initiative of AS Roma Academy Abuja. It is a great opportunity for exceptionally talented players from poor or low income financial background to enjoy the privilege of chasing their dreams through rigorous and excellent training under the AS Roma methodology, with the clear objective of achieving football and academic education excellence with the hope of a career path to professionalisms in football and/or getting athletic scholarships to study in the best colleges and universities in the USA.

The Elite Squad project is residential and powered by AS Roma Academy Abuja, an initiative of the local partner. All players will attend AS Roma Academy Abuja and will be trained intensively by implementing the famous AS Roma methodology, playing style and quality training that have produced world class players like “Totti”. These successful players will benefit from our (scholarship) free academic education, accommodation and food throughout the duration of the program in AS Roma Academy Abuja

Scholarship Eligibility

Only Elite players are eligible for Scholarship. The scholarship is for maximum of 60 eligible players Nationwide. Priority is for players from low income backgrounds with expectional talents but may not be able to afford the cost of attending AS Roma Academy.

Criteria

Players must be exceptionally talented

Players must register and attend our tryout session and be successful.

Costs of Attendance: Free of Charge (Scholarships)

Benefits for Participating Players

– 100% scholarship into the academy for a whole year including accomodation and feeding and enrollment into our partner secondary schools for those who are still in school and are from outside the FCT.

– Train under the renowned AS Roma methodology that has produced and is still producing wonderful talents that excel on National and International stages.

– Players in the elite teams are eligible for our international experience package in AS Roma Italy

– Players also have the opportunity to be scouted by AS Roma Scouting Department

– Possible International tryouts opportunity and international tournaments participation for selected players.
