Big Flops This Weekend: PSG, Bayern Munich Handed First Defeat this Season

 

Rennes handed the star studded Paris Saint Germain their first defeat this season even with some of the world's best players like Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in the Parisian team. While in the Bundesliga, Eintracht Frankfurt defeat Bayern Munich right on their home ground.

Rennes scored just before and after the break to beat Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 on Sunday and hand the runaway league leader its first defeat of the season in the French Ligue 1.

Gaetan Laborde put Rennes ahead on the stroke of halftime after PSG star Lionel Messi had hit the crossbar with a free kick in the 31st minute. Laborde turned provider in the 46th for midfielder Flavien Tait.

PSG is still six points ahead of second-placed Lens and eight clear of third-placed Nice, which has played one game less in Ligue 1.

Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt subjected Bayern Munich to a first league defeat at the Allianz Arena in 30 matches, following a 2-1 comeback win in Sunday’s Bundesliga fixture.

Filip Kostic struck seven minutes from time as Frankfurt secured a first win of the season and first at Bayern since 2000.

Bayern, last beaten at home in November 2019, remain top of the Bundesliga, one point ahead of Borussia Dortmund.
