John Mikel Obi is a free agent after being let go by his new club – just four months after leaving Stoke City.
The Nigerian signed for Kuwait Sporting Club in the summer after having his Potters contract, which still had another 12 months left to run, terminated by mutual consent.
Stoke boss Michael O'Neill said there was an agreement he could leave for a "significant overseas opportunity".
However, the 34-year-old is now without a club after being let go by the Middle East club.
A tweet issued by Kuwait SC simply read: “Termination of the contract of the Nigerian John Obi Mikel.”
The reasons for the termination are unknown.
