CAFCC: Enyimba Beat Al Ittihad of Libya As Rivers United Clashed Out

Enyimba have defeated Libyan side, Al Ittihad 2-0 yesterday at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba in the first leg of the playoffs round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The People’s Elephant scored twice in the first half from the boots of Sodiq Abubakar and Victor Mbaoma but they missed several gilt-edge chances to increase the goals margin as they still have a second leg to negotiate.

The first leg ought to have been held on November 28th in Tunisia but the North African’s immigration procedure to allow visitors to land on their soil included certificate of Covid-19 vaccinations which the Enyimba contingent was unable to present.

CAF ordered the postponement of the initial leg but stressed that the return leg must go ahead as already outlined while putting Enyimba’s second-leg home advantage in tatters.

Enyimba will go into the return leg knowing that they have two goals cushion they must protect anywhere the second leg is fixed.

On the other game involving Nigerian side, Rivers United crashed out after losing 0-1 to Al Masry in Alexandria Egypt.
