How Fans Suffered Huge Losses Rooting for Super Eagles of Nigeria in the Round of 16 Game [AFCON 2021 Break Out]

Super Eagles performances and 100% win in the group stage of Africa cup of nations may have given confidence which lured millions of Nigerian fans to gamble. The odds favoured Nigeria win over Tunisia and many Nigerian fans went for the kill, to stake their money into Sports betting. But as they say "football is highly unpredictable!"

The dramatic turn of events in the game took many fans to the cleaners. Mama Chioma called me to ask what happened to her husband. "He came back this night acting like a mad man and just turning from one side to the others on the bed without pulling off his clothes and shoes...and didn't even eat dinner.. "

It is the trauma of a football fan. My friend had told me earlier that he stake NGN50,000 to win NGN200,000 and listed ahead what he wanted to do with money, if he wins.

My cousin also called to ask if it was the same match he was watching. He couldn't believe his eyes, what he was seeing, how all the odds were turning against the Super Eagles and he had also staked NGN5,000 and predicted 3 - 1 win in favour of Nigeria.

My friend in London chatted on WhatsApp: "These  boys (Super Eagles) can kill somebody. Am not watching anymore."

Nigeria started as favourites to reach the quarter-finals having won all three group matches in the northwestern city, with record seven-time champions Egypt among their victims.

Tunisia, making a record 15th consecutive Cup of Nations appearance from 1994, fell to Mali and minnows Gambia in the first round and squeezed into the knockout phase among the four best third-placed teams.

While Nigeria were able to choose 12 substitutes, Tunisia could manage only eight due to a coronavirus outbreak in the camp.

Also missing due to Covid-19 was Tunisia coach Mondher Kebaier, who was isolating in coastal city Limbe at the other end of the central African country.

Apart from being the more impressive in the group phase, the Nigerian Super Eagles also boasted an unbeaten record in five previous meetings with the Carthage Eagles, winning three and drawing two.

So, what went wrong with Super Eagles in this Game? Let's have your comments.
