In an exciting development for Nigerian football, Brown Ideye has officially signed a contract with nine-time NPFL champions, Enyimba, until the end of the current season.
Enyimba Sporting Director and ex-international, Ifeanyi Ekwueme, confirmed the transfer.
“Yes, the talks have been going on for a while and we completed it yesterday,” Ekwueme told our correspondence
“He will be with us until the end of the season and we believe he will bolster our team’s attack as we compete in the league and the continent.”
This move marks a significant addition to the Enyimba squad as they look to strengthen their chances in the league. Ideye, who previously had a stint in Europe, is well-known for his scoring ability and experience, making him a valuable asset for the team.
There were speculations surrounding a potential transfer to Rivers United, but those discussions ultimately did not materialize. Instead, Ideye will don the Enyimba colors.

Ideye played last for Kuwaiti side Al Yarmouk in 2022 but he is now set to stage a return to Nigeria’s top flight, taking after former international teammates Ahmed Musa and Abdullahi Shehu who are currently playing for Kano Pillars.
The move will also mark the return of Ideye to the domestic scene 17 years after he left Ocean Boys in 2006. The 36-year-old was a member of the Super Eagles squad that won the 2013 AFCON in South Africa.
He was also part of the Eagles squad to the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Ideye featured as well in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada.
