29th
of March 2014 is a date with destiny for many footballers in Nigeria who are
looking for scholarship opportunity to continue their education in the USA.
Then I should advice you on this one:
‘Don’t fail to be at GreenSprings school Lekki Lagos on the above
mentioned day.
This is the venue where Global College Placements (GCP) will
be holding its first USA College Soccer Assessment Day in Lagos Nigeria, and
you wouldn’t want to miss out on this.
EVENT: USA College Soccer Assessment Day In
Lagos Nigeria
DATE: 29th March 2014
VENUE: GreenSprings Lekki
This is a great
opportunity for Nigerian student footballers to be assessed of their suitability
for gaining an Athletic scholarship into
one of the 1,500 colleges and universities that GCP partners with in the USA.
Ranging from Harvard and Yale to 2 year community colleges.
Every
participant will be properly assessed on that day to:
·
Determine
your Soccer ability
· Quantify
your school grades
·
Determine
your scholarship value
·
Accurately
advice you on your best options
·
Provide
vital Information e.g the cost of ‘getting there’
·
Provide
phone and email advice for you and your parents.
This
assessment is so vital because it will determine whether you will either gain a
full scholarship or other wise.
All the
games will be videoed as part of your assessment documentation and be
distributed to all college and university soccer coaches that GCP partners with
in USA.
Indeed, some
USA college soccer coaches will be in attendance on the assessment day.
On Skype
chat with Ray Curan, the project co-coordinator, he said, “Colleges in the USA are very eager to get
Nigerian students over on scholarship because of the athletic nature of the
players and the history of high academic achievements.”
“Although,
they are very wary of how to proceed and see us as great conduit for them to
get the best possible players. I am happy to say that the average cost last
year for each student to cover tuition, room and board was $4.500 and 30% of my
student footballers received full scholarship. Says Curan.
Here in
their Nigerian office at 2A Raymond Njoku Street, Ikoyi Lagos, GCP country
manager, Kurtis Adigba said, “We’re working round the clock to put things in
place and to make it easy for more student footballers around Nigeria to
participate. We have gone the extra mile to see what affordable hotels around
the venue where participants from outside Lagos state could lodge for a night
ot two for the assessment.”
However, interested student footballers who would like to
partake in the assessment should go to the website: http://globalcollegeplacement.wordpress.com/
and fill in the evaluation form as well as contact GCP office before
making the trip to Lekki Lagos.
