Burkina Faso U23 reached the last four of the All
Africa Games Brazzaville 2015 after emerging the lucky side in a drawing of
lots with Sudan on Monday morning.
Both sides had scored and conceded two goals in their first two Group A outings before playing to a goalless draw in their final tie on Sunday, to finish perfectly level on four points apiece, two adrift of hosts and group leaders Congo.
Sudan had launched their campaign with a 2-1 loss to the Red Devils before bouncing back with a 1-0 victory over Zimbabwe, while Burkina Faso had gotten their AAG journey off to a perfect start with a 1-0 win over the Young Warriors before falling 2-1 to the hosts.
The only way to separate the two teams was therefore to conduct a drawing of lots, which saw the Sudanese losing out in cruel fashion.
The Stallions will battle Group B winners Nigeria for a spot in the final on Tuesday, with Congo facing Group B runners-up Senegal in the other semifinal the same day.
