Golden Eaglets will begin their in
Chile as defending Champions of the FIFA U17 World Cup, the trophy the Nigerians won in Dubai United Arab Emirates in 2013.
Eaglets will be playing against USA, host Chile
and Croatia in Group A. Of Course, Nigeria's cadet national team is favorite to
retain the trophy, though the present squad finished as second runners up at
the African U16 Championship earlier this year.
Emmanuel Amunike who tutors the present Eaglets,
insisted the team shouldn't be compared with the 2013 Champions because
it has a different nomenclature.
"we are capable of winning again, but the
present team has a different "DNA."
The 2013 Eaglets was one of the best U17 team ever raised in Nigeria at
this level. There were a lot of sharp shooters in that team and they scored lots of goals all through their campaign. But this present Squad is more compact
and play a definitive style of football Nigerians will appreciate and be proud
of." Amunike declared.
"I hope we get our rhythm from the onset
and if that happens there's no stopping us. We have fortified the team and
included some great talents that are capable of making a difference in match
situations. The team spirit is high and rearing to go. It's one match at a
time." Amunike exuded so much confidence.

Perhaps, Nigeria is the most successful country
at this level. It has won the bi-annual competition 4 times in 30years. It won the first-ever trophy in China 1985, then Japan 1993, Mexico 2007, UAE 2013.. And Nigeria is going for the fifth trophy in Chile.
nigeria u17 has won the tournament four (4) times and not five (5) times please. crosscheck your facts before publication. thanks
