Corsica Vs Nigeria Friendly Fixtures: Get Answers to All the Questions Fans Are Asking

Many fans in Nigeria have been reacting on the planned friendly match between Corsica and Nigeria. They want to know and they are asking:

Which One is Corsica?
Corsica is a tiny Island in France with very little to show in terms of football conquest but that nonetheless, collectively the small Island state have some players they can boast of:

  • Rémy Cabella  who plays as offensive midfielder for French Ligue 1 club Olympique de Marseille,

  • Yannick Cahuzac, who also play as a central midfielder and Captains French Ligue 1 club SC Bastia...

Over the years, Corsica unofficial national team, known as Squadra Corsa di Balo, have played against the national teams of France, Cameroon, Congo, Bulgaria and Burkina Faso.

Their first international game was in 1967 against France, which they won 2-0.
They lost 1-0 to Cameroon, who used the game to prepare for the 1998 World Cup in France.

Why did Nff decide to fix a Match with a non-footballing Country like Corsica?
Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr demanded to try out some newly invited players to the national team. This is the first phase of preparation for the Afcon qualifiers match against Bafana Bafana of South Africa in June 2017.

Some key players like Ogeniyi Onazi , John Mikel Obi, Odion Ighalo, Victor Moses...will not be participating in this First  phase of preparation. Super Eagles is also slated to play with Togo in the coming weeks.
