I guess you will agree with me 2018 was quite an exciting football year for Nigeria fans. Super Eagles, Nigeria men's senior national team, was at the FIFA World cup in Russia. 1. Nike sportswear contractual license to dress Super Eagles of Nigeria turn out to be one of the highpoints in 2018. Nike came up with one of the best shirt designs for the national team world cup campaign.

The shirt design so excited consumers that it became almost like a national identity uniform for Nigerians both home and abroad. At the day of launch alone, Nike got over 3 million orders and in 42 days the US Sportswear company officially sold over 30 million units. As I write the shirt is still hot in the market, months after the world cup. Every Nigerian want their own Nike Super Eagles world cup shirt.

The women finals also produce almost the same level of excitement between rival Rivers Angels Vs Ibom Angels. Attracted over 20, 000 spectators at Samson Siasia Stadium Yenagoa, and over 6 million viewers on Supersports. Winners River Angels went home with N10million prize money and runner up N5 million. These prize monies has brought more competition and excitement to the women vetsion of the Aiteo cup.

3. 9jaBet Exclusive Sponsorship of the Nigeria National League (NNL) has brought about a lot of organization into the sevond tier league in 2018. While the elite league, Nigeria Professional Football Leaggur (NPFL), haven't been able to secure a sponsorship deal, due to the unresolved controversies that marred previous sponsorships, 9jaBet has preferred to rather partner with NNL.

9jaBet sponsorship has drawn a lot of attention to NNL and spectators attendance has greatly increased from average of 5000 attendance to an average of 12,000 attendance in 2018.

6. LG endorsement deal with Alex Iwobi just before the world cup gave the electronic brand a lot of global media attention and warm them up in the heart of Nigerian fans around the world.

Though, LG chose Alex Iwobi in anticipation that he would become Nigeria's topmost star at the world cup, but he didn't get to play in any of the games.

Not a disappointment though, because months after the world cup, Iwobi has become a mainstay in Arsenal first team and the only Nigerian playing at that level right now. Iwobi's social media following has also increased greatly and the LG brand is reaping from all the attention he enjoys now..
