Why Roy Hodgson Insist On John Mikel Obi Joining Crystal Palace Before Close of January Transfer Window

Will John Mikel Obi Improve or stabilize Crystal Palace Midfield or Should Roy Hodgson look beyond the Nigerian International?
Mikel wouldn’t be the most exciting of signings but it seems a low risk addition that is definitely worth taking.

Former Chelsea and Nigeria national team captain John Obi Mikel could return to the Premier League with Crystal Palace before the enf of this month.

If reports are to be believed, Crystal Palace could replace one of their midfielders with a man nine years his senior.

Dutch international Jairo Riedewald is expected to bid farewell to Selhurst Park this month and The Independent reports that Palace will not stand in his way of a move to La Liga outfit Celta Vigo.

And, according to TEAMtalk, the veteran John Obi Mikel could return to the Premier League in his place.
Two years after bringing an end to a trophy-laden decade at Chelsea, the 31-year-old is apparently on his way back to London with Crystal Palace keen to offer him a contract.

Mikel is currently a free agent, having recently left Chinese Super League outfit Tianjin TEDA.

With tight budget at Palace, Roy Hodgson will have to think outside the box in pursuit of new additions and Mikel could be a sensible, cost-effective signing for a relegation threatened side.

He’d add experience, class and energy in the centre of the park while perhaps filling the void left by the departure of Yohan Cabaye last summer.

Jairo Riedewald reportedly wants Spain switch, leaving Championship suitors frustrated...
