Odion Ighalo's Brace and Assist Ensured Nigeria Defeated Cameroon, Qualified for Quarter Finals of AFCON 2019

Cairo went to sleep, it was a silent night in the whole of Egypt. A dramatic evening in both Alexandria and Cairo stadium. An evening that saw both defending champions Cameroon and host Egypt eliminated from Africa Cup of Nation 2019.

Nigeria's Odion Ighalo scored a brace and assisted Alex Iwobi to score the winning goal, which ensured the hard fighting indomitable lions of cameroon got knocked out of AFCON 2019.

Ighalo opened scoring in the 19th minute, after his shot was deflected in by a Banana.

The Indomitable Lions fought back and scored two quick goals to lead 2-1 just before the break, ...goals scored by Stephane Bahoken 37 minutes and Clinton N’Jie at 41 minute of the first half

However, Gernot Rohr’s men returned from the break fired up with two quick goals ...Ighalo scored again in 57minute and gave a killer pass to assist Alex Iwobi score the winning goal, which took the match beyond the defending champions.

Nigeria has qualified for the quarter finals and Ighalo's brace took his goal tally to four. Remember, he scored the only goal the Super Eagles needed to defeat debutant Burundi at the opening group B game. And again the lone goal against Guinea which qualified Nigeria for round of 16.

Nigeria will now tackle South Africa in the quarter-finals, after Bafana-Bafana stun host Egypt with  Thembinkosi Lorch’s late strike at the 85 minute of the dramatic encounter in Cairo stadium.
