2021 Presents the Greatest Comeback in Football History - Will Fans Rush to Catch up Or Maintain A Safe Distance?

 

A critical analysis of how football consumers behavior can twitch in 2021

One of the many, many reasons 2020 will go down in history is because societal behaviour changed more in nine months of the year than in any period since World War Two. 

Situation Analysis

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 had to clamp down on all sports for most part of the year 2020. The COVID case were rising in Nigeria and government needed to enforce social distancing. 

Contact sports like football were ban. Police even move to arrest young lads engaged in street football games. As I write the Nigeria Professional Football league (NPFL) is still finding it difficult to Kick-off the new season, after the 2019/20 season were forced to a premature close. 

To that end, Fans were lockdown at home with no choice but to watch TV. They had to watch playbacks of almost every archived games and documentaries on cable TV. But when later in the year European league kick-off under closed doors Nigerian fans rush out to viewing centers, not afraid of being infected by the Virus. 

Then sports betting resumed and Bookmakers gave a sigh of relief after being closed down for over seven months. 

Pay TV vendors were better for it. They were smiling to the banks as new subscriptions rise by 26% and upgrade to higher packages, which included live sports, rise by 41%.

Most sports professionals were working from home and meetings were held mostly on Zoom, Skype,  kings conference... These online meeting platforms were making  money like no man business. 

There's a dire need for critical thinking and analysis of the sports market situation as we get into the year 2021. As I write many are still wearing Face mask and keeping social distancing. 

Some state government have already declared a second wave of the corona virus pandemic. So we are getting into 2021 with some level of uncertainty again. 

The controversy that shrouds Covid-19 vaccines as having Nano particles that electronically identifies those that have taken the vaccination...and how human beings can be controlled through transmissions from this embedded Nano chips. 

But if the vaccination becomes successful and many football fans decide to take it, then we may see 2021 present the greatest come back in football history.
