Leicester City And Their Cinderella Football - Fans Are Made to Live in Dreamland, to Drink from FA Cup Trophy for the First Time

The Life of a Leicester City fan

It is not the first time we have seen the Foxes do the unexpected, we saw the team cart away the Premier league shield as the most unlikely team to do that in 2015/16 season and now they held on to a 1 - 0 lead over Chelsea till the end of the regulation time to win the FA cup for first time since 1969..

The life of a Leicester City fan is such that you are transported from time to time to see the reality of dreams in a fantasy Island. Perhaps, that curiosity of uncertainty that anything can happen and that you "dare not mess with the foxes" has fueled the passion and support for this Leicester side.

It is not by design, I may say, but now Leicester City found themselves in an FA Cup final – first since 1969, having never won the competition and lost more than anyone else in the past (four times, thanks). It matters, now you may understand why I say it isn't by design or set target for the year.

You can have good seasons, great ones even, but almost nothing quite compares to that one day where you can walk down Wembley Way alongside your own. Only they know the journey you’ve been on to get here, each fan with their own twists and bumps along the way, but all carrying that same collective weight of experience.

Being a fan can be one of the worst feelings in the world, but try finding a more rewarding one when the going is good – these kinds of moments that for most of us, happen only a few times in our lifetimes.

Here in Nigeria, Leicester City didn't really have fans, not like Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, until the team began to look in the way of African players and Nigerians in particular: Wilfred Ndidi winning the Premiership with the team in 2015/16 season with the Algerian star player Riyad Mahrez and then, Ahmed Musa came from CSKA Moscow and Kelechi Iheanacho who came over from Manchester city to fortify the team.

Now, Nigerian fans began to show interest after Leicester City Cinderella story of 2015/16 season. But nothing compare to the large number of Chelsea fans in Nigeria that filled the viewing centers. Chelsea has qualified for the Champions League and are gunning for the double. Not looking like Leicester City was the kind of team to stop them from winning the FA Cup.

Leicester City fans going to Wembley were not sure what to expect, though the team is doing well, third in the premier League table and one step ahead of Chelsea, but their FA records wasn't anything to write home about. The must exciting perhaps was that Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi were on top of their game and will be playing. So fans are out there with mix feeling, not sure if it will be another transportation into the dream land. But sure it was.
