Liverpool have completed the siging of Ghana youth international Fatawu Abdul Issahaku on a five-year contract, according to widespread reports.
Issahaku, 17, is considered one of the brightest prospects in African football after a stunning breakthrough with second-tier side Steadfast FC in his native country.
The teenage attacking midfielder - who has suitors across Europe - was on the verge of joining Bayer Leverkusen last week and travelled to Germany to seal the move to the Bundesliga club.
But Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund submitted last-ditch offers for Issahaku, with the Reds prevailing in the transfer battle after Anfield chiefs successfully negotiated a fee in the region of £1.5million.
Issahaku helped Ghana's youth team win the Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations earlier this year and was voted the tournament's Most Valuable Player after scoring two stunning goals.
His performances earned him a call-up to the senior Ghana set-up in March and he may make his debut during friendlies against Morocco and the Ivory Coast next month.
Steadfast president Haruna Iddrisu recently described Issahaku as a "jewel" who will "bring gold to Ghana" in years to come.
