  With the mass withdrawal by main stream Super Eagles players and the subsequent handing over the game to home based boys, may have taken the shine off the game. Some fans are even saying it may spell disaster for the brand reputation of the Nigeria National team. 

According to Richard Nwabuna, "if Nigeria national team  isn't ready for the match against Mexico, NFF Should cancel It! It is much better that way than to take local league players for a friendly game of such magnitude. It is a sure recipe for disaster!"

"The point isn't that the boys are local league players, but they haven't been together before, even as Chan-Eagles, as some people may choose to call them. I think Gernot Rohr was smart to distance himself from the team. It is more like a trap that may have counted for his eventual sack."

"Austin Eguavoen and Paul Aigbogun may see the US trip as another Jamboree, because they are just make-shift-coaches after Rohr had earlier declined his involvement with the team. But when we see result like Mexico 8 - 0 Nigeria, then we would understand how far this game may go in denting the brand reputation of Super Eagles and of Nigeria as a footballing nation." 

Abdullah Sani was asked if he will watch the match? 

"I don't want to cover my face in shame or expose myself to unnecessary heart attack. I don't just understand NFF... It is bad enough when they hurriedly assemble the foreign based pros for a game, but for local league boys that haven't been together before, it is only one result, Disaster!"

How to Watch the Match

Fans will be allowed to watch Nigeria’s intercontinental friendly encounter with Mexico slated for the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (LA Coliseum) on July 4.

The LA Coliseum is a 78,467-capacity multi-purpose stadium in Los Angeles, California. And as a result of changes in California’s guidelines regarding the coronavirus pandemic, organisers have announced plans, as per LA’s Channel1, to allow fans into the stadium at full capacity, with no seating restrictions.

- The match will be played on  Saturday night July 3, by ET: 10:30pm, CT: 9:30pm, MT: 8:30pm, PT: 7:30pm, 

- Which will be Sunday early morning July 4, by 2:30am GMT+ (Nigerian time). 

- The match will also be broadcast live on AIT free-to-air tv and NFF online tv.
