Enyimba's New Technical Adviser: Does Finidi George Has What it Takes to Manage the Most Successful Club in Nigeria?
After waiting for a long time for the Golden Eaglets coaching job, the Ex Nigeria international Finidi George has agreed terms to become the new Technical Adviser of 8-time NPFL champions Enyimba FC for next season.
Finidi will be taking up his first managerial role at professional level since his retirement from football in 2004.
He has a UEFA Coaching license and had been director of international football for Real Betis Spain and coach of Real Mallorca youth team. Finidi had also served as an intern coach at Dutch side, FC Zwolle on the way to earning a coaching badge.
In his playing days, he won the UEFA Champions League with Ajax Amsterdam and the 1994 African cup of nations for Nigeria. He also represented Nigeria twice at the FIFA World Cup..
He returns to the Nigeria topflight many years after his playing days with Calabar Rovers, Iwuanyanwu Nationale (Heartland) and Sharks (Rivers United).
The 50 year-old will take over from Fatai Osho whose contract wasn't renewed after Enyimba finished third on the NPFL standing last season and was knocked out in both the CAF Cup and the Federations cup.
With the way Nigerian league goes, some analysts wonders if Finidi has what it takes to coach the most successful club in Nigeria
