Gernot Rohr Sack Finally Confirmed: Austin Eguavoen to Takeover As Interim Head Coach

 


Rohr’s sack was confirmed on Sunday December 12, in a statement by the NFF, which also confirms Austin Eguavoen to take over as an interim Head Coach. 


NFF also announced Salisu Yusuf, Paul Aigbogun, Joseph Yobo and Terry Eguaoje will act as assistants.


 “The relationship between the Nigeria Football Federation and Mr Rohr has come to an end. We thank him for his services to the Super Eagles and Nigeria.


“We also want to thank the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports for their collaboration and guidance all through,” said NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi in the statement.


 Rohr led Nigeria to the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019 where the team finished in third place.


 Meanwhile, Eguavoen returns to the National team for his third stint after previous roles in 2005 and 2010.


 Eguavoen will take charge of the team as it preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year.


The Nigeria FA also confirmed he will remain in that position until the appointment of a substantive Head Coach.
