What About Nigeria's Deep-Green Nike Jersey - Has It Been Washed with the Blood of Jesus?

We observed that Super Eagles of Nigeria used their deep green away jersey for their home game against Egypt in AFCON 2021 - and fans are asking if the Jersey has been soaked and washed with the blood of Jesus?"

...That Jersey has caused Nigerians so much disappointment and heart pain in the past that some fans were calling for its ban.

Many Nigerians believe Super Eagles deep-green Nike Jersey brings the team bad luck, according to some fans who spoke to BBC sports: "Every time Nigeria wears that Jersey defeat is sure bet."

When Super Eagles wear the deep green Jersey they are like men under a spell. They play like 'granny all stars' ...they can't run, they can't pass the ball well... They play like a bunch of confused eleven men on the pitch...no formation or sense of purpose.

A fan even wrote in his Twitter account: "You don't need to go to Babalawo's place before you curse somebody... Just buy this Nike Jersey for the person, he or she will remain cursed"

When Algeria defeated Nigeria 2-1 at the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals in 2019, it wasn't their luck, rather it was Nigeria putting on bad luck - the deep green away jersey which the fans has badmouthed, helped them to win that March.

The worst was when minnows Madagascar beat Nigeria 2-0 in the group stage of the same competition, it was the same deep green jersey Nigeria wore to play that match and nobody saw it coming.

The whole talk of how the Nike Nigeria away jersey brings ''bad luck'  to Super Eagles started during 2018 World cup when Nigeria lost so miserably to Croatia and in a crucial game against Argentina the Super Eagles flopped and fail to qualify for the knock out stages.

AFCON 2021 Surprise

Fans have already given up to despondency when they saw the Super Eagles file out with the deep green Jersey again, in their crucial first match against Egypt in AFCON 2021.

Many things has happened in the past weeks before the crucial game. NFF sacked their German tactician Gernot Rohr three weeks before the start of the tournament and installed an interim coach, Austin Eguavoen.

Again, some of the key players like Victor Osimhen, Odion Ighalo, Paul Onuachu, Emmanuel Dennis... were not available for the tournament. So, nobody knew what to expect in that first game.

But contrary to such superstition, the Super Eagles with their deep green Nike Jersey defeated Egypt 1 - 0, and played one of the best games in a longtime. Fans are now asking, has the Jersey been soaked in the blood of Jesus?

We need to know, because for the Nigerian team to emerge champion in Cameroon, they must be spiritually intact. For sure, we are going to play some crucial games as the competition progresses. So, we must find out now, which Jersey bring us luck: The Deep green away Jersey or the white with green and lemon designs home Jersey.

Then, who should wear the captain band in such crucial games - I mean, who's the lucky captain?  And other spiritual nomenclatures that will supposedly cause the 'god of soccer' to favour the team.

Believe it or not, for Super Eagles to emerge champions, they will need luck at some point. Football is like that!
