Why Silas Nwankwo decided to Sign for Mjallby

Silas Nwankwo has revealed why he joined modest Swedish club side despite more lucrative offers from across Europe.

Nwankwo, who scored 21 goals last season for Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Nasarawa United in both the league and Federation Cup, said he and his representative Famakinwa Lanre thought about his development as a player and Mjallby would best place to start.

“It’s true there were lots of offers for me, but I and my representative Famakinwa Lanre considered my development and growth as a player not only the money. Mjallby is the best club for me now, so I can gradually develop into the mainstream top flight European football.

His representative Famakinwa Lanre agrees that money will come soon but his development as a player was foremost.

“He is so excited about the deal. We settled for Mjallby because they were so interested in his growth as a player which is priority for us,” he disclosed.

“He didn’t want to think about money at this stage of his career, money will come soon. “He needs to enjoy his game and develop well.”

Silas Nwankwo signed a-three-year-deal with the club and he has been assigned jersey number 3.
