Real Madrid Star David Alaba Donates Ultra Modern Bio Degradable Toilet Facility to Ogun State

 


Austria and Real Madrid star defender David Alaba, through his foundation, donated an ultra-modern bio-degradable toilet facility in Ogere Remo community in Ogun State.


The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa made this known in a post on her Twitter handle.


Davido-Erewa who lauded the gesture stated that it is a support to Federal Government of Nigeria’s initiative to end open defecation.


She also revealed that the former Bayern Munich player is planning a football training centre in Nigeria



“A big thanks for the facility donated by the David Alaba Foundation at Kara Market, Ogere Remo, Ogun State to support FGNs move to end open defecation.David is also planning a football training centre in Nigeria,” she wrote on Twitter.


Also praising the David Alaba Foundation for donating the facility is Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State. Abiodun, who was represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Olufemi Ilori-Oduntan in Ogun State at the commissioning of the facility, said the gesture is a new dimension in community development and individual efforts toward a better society.


Clean Nigeria Campaign

Abiodun sent an appeal to the people of Ogun State to always incorporate toilets into their building plans.


He pledged the state government’s resolve to maintain toilets in public places such as parks and markets.


Also at the commissioning, Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman Adamu, called for more private sector involvement and support in its quest to end Open Defecation in Nigeria.


Adamu said this in a statement issued by Funmi Imuetinyan, Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations in the Federal Ministry of Water Resources.


Adamu reaffirmed that Clean Nigeria Campaign aims at mobilising high-level political support, resources and the entire populace towards building a new culture of safe sanitation by aggressively mobilising the entire country towards ending the practice of open defecation by 2025.


The Minister pointed out the role of the private sector in the revitalisation of the WASH sector and congratulated NIDCOM and the (OPS-WASH) for taking a lead in this direction.
