NFF Plans Strict Regulation of Football Academies in Nigeria
The Nigeria Football Federation has set plans in place to regulate the activities of football academies in the country.
The board has decided to examine the operations of academies with a plan to streamline their activities.
The proliferation of the grassroots bodies has generated some concerns among critical football stakeholders, especially concerning the development of the sport across the country. A clear definition of what constitutes a football academy from a mere grassroots "boys club."
Hence, the Technical Committee was directed to come up with a comprehensive guideline to regulate and standardise the running of football academies in Nigeria. It may include acreditation process and licensing of academies in ranks just like the private school system in the country.
This decision was part of the resolutions by the board as contained in a statement signed by Head of Communications Ademola Olajire.
