NWFL Rolls Out Plans For Improved Women's League - Season 2023/24

 


The Board of Nigeria Women's Football League (NWFL) on Wednesday rolled out plans to achieve an improved women's leagues for 2023/24 season and beyond 


The Board at a press briefing in Abuja ceased the opportunity to share updates on their achievements since her inauguration six weeks ago.


As part of the strategic plans to improve the level of the leagues, the body stated that it has developed 'Women's Football Rising' aimed at improving the capacity and technical ability of women football players in the country through gradual but sustainable and scalable execution plan. 


In term of capacity building, 'Class to Pitch' initiative which is designed to develop players, coaches and referees capacity by engaging them in different trainings. Other initiatives includes, 'Football and the Girls Child' and 'He for She' advocacy aimed at tapping into the vast network to help raise funds for the successful implementation of her different programmes.


The Chairperson of the League, Ms Nkechi Obi highlighted lack of adequate preparations, bad infrastructure as part of reasons the NWFL clubs failed to win the CAF Women's Champions League since its inception. The Chairperson said the board is doing everything by assisting the clubs in achieving the goal.


She added that the 2023/24 season will see 16 teams competing for the trophy.


The 2023/24 NWFL season according to the Board will kick off on 15th November, 2023, exactly one month to the date of the body's Annual General Assembly.
