When Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL 2015 Season) finally draw to a close in November, we will all thumb up for Shehu Dikko led League Management Company (LMC) for a job well done. But here, we are looking ahead for new ways to further improve the brand image of the league
Selling NPFL to sports fans online is the new way we feel LMC should begin to invest in right now.
According to Nielsen, the television research firm: 88 percent of Tablet owners and 86 percent of Smartphone owners use their devices while watching TV. Google analytic also revealed that tons of queries on football related issues originate from Nigeria.
Therefore, to help capture the attention as well as interest of the millions of Nigerian sports fans online, LMC should build a tool for it search products to show up when fans query for football related results on Google search engine.
First, LMC should create NPFL Channel on YouTube, where video clips of live matches, preview and post match interviews, highlights and match analysis can be created and post on the channel online.
Of course, LMC will need the help of SuperSports, who exclusively own NPFL TV rights, to achieve this promotional strategy. SuperSports are the ones that shoot and broadcast NPFL games on their TV. So they are the ones that can create the various kinds of Video clips and post them on the NPFL channel on YouTube.
The idea is to optimize the YouTube channel so that when a sports fan query Google search engine regarding Nigeria sports issues, those Video clips on NPFL channel will rank tops on the search results, which encourages the fans to view them.
We have said it before; NPFL commercials on TV are still highly desirable, because they can reach more viewers than other kinds of medium. But then, the appeal have skyrocketed the price of TV spots; making it more cost-effective to engage on digital marketing. The fact today is that it is less expensive to sell NPFL to Sports fans online.
In our subsequent post, we'll reveal to you in details how "Google NPFL" tool can target every Nigerian sports fan across the globe and serve each of them NPFL ads when they make any query on Google search engine.
