11 Who'll Surely Play for Nigeria in the Fifa World Cup 2018
Nigeria national team Head Coach Gernot Rohr has made known to the public his intension to take most of the players that participated in Nigeria qualifiers to the World Cup. Unless injury or other health conditions, you could beat your chest and say these 11 players will surely be at the World Cup.
1. Victor Moses: one of those Rohr declared to have an automatic shirt. Moses is perhaps the most active and playing in the most competitive games: Uefa Champions League as well as premier League, a key player in Chelsea's first team. Many analyst said Nigeria's progress at the world cup will largely depend on the fittness and current form of the highly mobile player.
2. John Mikel Obi would also have an automatic shirt because of his experience at the highest level... and skills that inspires confidence in the team. Though, currently playing in a lower China Super League with an average club, Tianji... But his vast experience while in Chelsea and the fact that he played at the previous world cup in Brazil gives him an edge.
3. Alex Iwobi a youngster and one of the few Nigerians playing top flight games Europa Cup and Premier League for Arsenal. One of the creative midfielder Nigerians hope will be in his best element at the world. Many analyst believe Rohr maybe introducing him into games as Super Sub, because of the way he effectively read the game...and has shown he could be more effective, a kind of jocker, when introduced later in the game.
4. Moses Simon perfectly fit into Rohr attacking style. A high intensity player with so much speed in the counter. The Ghent of Belgium attacking midfielder could run down defenders on a continues speed racing although 90 minutes. Simon is a key players in Rohr' s team formation...and will play key role in most of his game plans.
5. Leon Balogun have become a stalwal in heart of Super Eagles defence, His combination with William Troost Ekong in the central defence has brought so much stability in the Nigerian back four. The white boys as they are fondly called because of their light skin complexion, has relegated players like Kenneth Omeruo to the bench and Balogun is the main man in Rohr defence plan.
Balogun plays in the Germany second tier league FSV Mainz 05, but has shown great reslience...cool-calculative and incredible ball winner; strong on the ball and marshall the whole defence line just like former Super Eagles defender, Uche Okechukwu.
6. Willam Troost Ekong has been a great discovery since his incredible performance in the Olympic games bronze medal winning Nigerian Dream team. His combination with Leon Balogun has brought so much stability in the defence of the current Super Eagles team.
Ekong and Balogun will be in heart of Super Eagles defence in Russia during the world cup. And it will a big blow to the Nigerian team if any of these duo crop an injury before or during the World Cup. Ekong, strong on ground and on air in ball winning and distribution. Ekong is a more reliable defender in his clubside, Bursaspor in Turkey and has played every competitive game for his club this season.
7. Ogeniyi Onazi is one of the experienced players Nigeria will be taking to Russia. Rohr has included him as one of the players with automatic shirt. Onazi work rate and ball winning skills do as much to stabilize Super Eagles midfield. Was a mainstay for Nigeria in the 2014 World cup in Brazil.
Although, Onazi form recently has been a little inconsistent for his club Trabzonspor in Turkey, but his experience will be greatly needed in the largely young team Nigeria is presenting in this years's world cup.
8. Wilfred Ndidi is yet another guy playing top flight football in the Premier League with Liecester City. Ndidi's football has improved tremendously in last three years... and his coming to England has made him a regular feature in the Premier. League.
Ndidi quickly broke into Super Eagles first team threatening to side line players like Onazi in the defensive midfield rol role. Very effective in ball winning, ball distribution and great ball intelligence. Ndidi's quality is so high. he can break into any team in the world today. He is such a coaches delight, that rohr prize his inclusion in the Super Eagles team to the world cup.
9. Odion Ighalo is sure the number one striker Nigeria is taking to the world cup. Ighalo made name while playing at Watford in the Premier League where he scored 26 goals in the 2015 season but he currently plays in lower China Super League wit
Ighalo's pace, positioning and eye for goal has greatly delighted Rohr and he expects him to fire from all cylinder during the world cup.
10. Shehu Abdulahi sealed the position of the right back as his own, following a long search to replace an out of form Efe Ambrose in the Super Eagles. Abdulahi became the answer and since then has ward off any competition. Abdulahi currently plays for Bursnspor along side Troost Ekong in the defence line.
11. Kelechi Iheanacho may have had a hard time, being out of favor in Man city and taking quiet sometime to settle in Liecester city, yet he still remain the Nigerian golden boy. Rohr play him as alternative striker in his regular 4-2-3-1 or a support striker in his alternative 4-4-2 formation.
Iheanacho is expected to use the world cup to re-launch his part to greatness. He was MVP and HGS in the Fifa U16 World Cup in 2013 and many analyst believe he has the skills and what it takes to become one of the best in world.
