Zimbabwe Want Nigeria Friendly Ahead of AFCON 2019
With Nigeria's planned friendly against Ghana now looking uncertain with a top official of the Ghana Football Association stating last week that the Black Stars have other plans. Zimbabwe may just be a replacement for the Super Eagles.
Zimbabwean FA is planning to play an international friendly for its national team against the Super Eagles of Nigeria ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The friendly encounter, according to president of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Felton Kamambo will likely place in Nigeria
“We will also go to Nigeria where we intend to play a game in Nigeria, but that is yet to be confirmed,” Kamambo told the Herald.
We are still working on contractual agreements. I think we will play three serious friendly matches that will afford the coaches a chance to finetune their squad ahead of the tournament.”
Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr revealed after draw ceremony for the 2019 AFCON in Giza few weeks ago that his team will play two friendly games against the Black Stars of Ghana and Terangha Lions of Senegal before the competition.

Benin have been touted as a possible opponent but it seems the Zimbabweans will now be visiting Nigeria for the warm up game.
Zimbabwe are seeking to reach the AFCON knockout stage for the first time in Egypt.
To reach that goal the Warriors will first have to navigate Group A, in which they face hosts Egypt, DR Congo and Uganda.
