Godwin Obaseki's Largesse Raises the Bar in Women Football Funding in Nigeria - Make Edo Queens A Model Club to Behold
Ahead of NWFL New Season
The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has applauded the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, for providing the vital financial and equipment support to the state’s women’s football team, Edo Queens, who will begin their campaign in the 2018/2019 season today (Wednesday) in Lagos.
The NWPL will kick off this afternoon across the designated centres in the country with 16 teams drawn in four groups of four clubs each.
Dream Stars Ladies of Lagos will host Edo Queens in their Group B opening match at the Agege Stadium Lagos today (Wednesday. kick-off is 4pm. The other two clubs in the group are Heartland Queens, Adamawa Queens who will clash at the Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri
Speaking ahead of the kick-off of the league, NWFL Chairperson, Aisha Falode, said the Edo State government has raised the bar in women’s football development, adding that, Edo Queens have become a model other clubs should emulate.
“Players’ welfare and comfort are essential to our objectives in the NWFL. The Edo State government has shown that women football could be as interesting to players as it is to the fans,” Falode said.
