Sack Or Not To Sack Super Eagles Head Coach, Gernot Rohr - Whats Your Take?

After every Africa cup of nations (AFCON) competition comes a reason of sacking and replacing  coaches for countries that wants a new beginning....

Tanzania sacked their head coach, Nigeria born Emmanuel Amunike and Cameroon sacked the well celebrated Clemence Seedorf and Patrick Kluvert... Here in Nigeria there's  already a heated argument even before the Super Eagles play the losers finals... Should NFF sack Gernot Rohr or not?

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, stated on Monday night that the glasshouse will retain the former Bordeaux coach despite widespread calls for his removal

The German has come under intense criticism following the Super Eagles shameful defeats. First and most unacceptable lossing 2 - 0 to a football minnows, Barea of Madagascar at the group stage  and then total outplayed and defeated 2-1 by the Desert Foxes of Algeria in their semifinal clash.

Some fans faulted Rohr's tactics and formation that made it difficult for Super Eagles to score or play their well popular attacking football style. Analysts wondered by he (Rohr) selected much strikers and attack oriented players only to play more or less defensive zonal marking tactics.

Rohr couldn't  raise the game of the players into a high performing team despite all the training tours, friendly matches and other support he got from NFF. He couldn't take Nigeria natiomal team to the next level. We have seen his coaching style, then why retain him, he has given his best and his best isn't enough. Of course, he would never win the World Cup and has shown he ccould not even win AFCON. So let another quality coach.

We cannot continue to pay him expatriate salary and welfare packages, while our indigenous coaches like Stephen Keshi and Shaibu Amodu had done better with far less pay and support.

Nigeria football legend, Segun Odegbami said he would have sacked Rohr, if he is NFF Boss
“If I was in charge of Nigerian football, Gernot Rohr would have been on his way home. I’m sorry that is a bit harsh, but you could see how he selected players, particularly in that match against Madagascar.

We could have been out of this competition now, because of his selection of players for that match. See coaches like Jurgen Klopp, Jose Mourinho, they are the 12th players. They are by the side of the field, they are directing their players.

They are shouting on referees, they are doing things. That is the sort of thing Nigerian players need. Nigerian players don’t want somebody who will just sit quietly and not say a word. They won’t hear his voice.

You won’t help them with difficulty. Our nature is to be loud, to be compelled and driven to the wall. Our nature is not to just relax” Odegbami said during the interview.

Meanwhile,  Rohr says he will make a decision on his future as Super Eagles coach after Wednesday’s AFCON 2019 Third-Place match against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia

The Super Eagles, Tunisia clash will take place at the Al Salam Stadium Cairo on Wednesday. Kickoff is 8pm Nigerian time.
