Introducing Super Eagles New Call-ups: Kingsley Ehizibue and Cyriel Dessers – What Can They Bring to the Team

On March 4, 2020, Gernot Rohr called up German based Kingsley Ehizibue and Dutch based Cyriel Desser to the Nigerian national football team for the African Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures against the Sierra leone

Here, we want to introduce these two new call ups to Nigerians and make an attempt on what these duo can bring to furthet fortify the national team

Who is Kingsley Ehizibue and what can he bring to the team?
Who is Cyriel Dessers and what can he add to the team?

Kingsley Ehizibue currently plays for Bundesliga club FC Cologne. He was born in Germany to a Nigerian parents, but moved to Netherlands at age two, growing up in Zwolle.

The 24-year-old started playing football at local amateur outfit CSV’28. Then made his professional debut for PEC Zwolle in October, 2014 in a Dutch Cup game.

The defender made his Eredivisie debut two months later against Willem 11.

He joined FC Cologne last summer, penning on a four-year contract. He has scored one goal in 21 league appearances for Cologne this season.

What Can Kingsley Ehizibue bring to the Super Eagles Team?

Ehizibue play from the right-back in FC Cologne strong and viral, rated very high on ball intelligence as well as ball winning skills.

May just be the kind of mobile defender Gernor rohr has been looking for.

Ehizibue can also play so well as a defensive midfielder and could be perfect fit to substitute Winfred Ndidi, in case of injury or weighing out in tough games.

Cyriel Dessers

Born in Belgium to a Belgian father and Nigerian mother, in December 2019 he announced his willingness to represent Nigeria at international level.

Dessers currently play as a striker for Heracles Almelo. He is currently the top scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie with 15 goals in 24 appearances.

Dessers has been playing professionally since 2013 and has featured prominently for clubs like Lokeren, FC Utrecht.

What Can Cyriel Dessers bring to the team

Dessers is a highly dangerous box to box kind of striker. Very fast at poaching the goal post like Didier Drogba in his hare days.

Dessers will give strikers like Victor Osihmen a run for his money as the first choice striker for Super Eagles.
