Enigmatic goalkeepers like Rene Higuita was ranked 20th;  Fabien Bathez ranked 41st and Jorge Campo 45th best in the world. 


Even the legendary Lev Yashin, who remains the only 'keeper in history to win a Ballon d'Or, came second in the fan vote. So, who was voted first and best goalkeeper of all time?

World's best goalkeeper of all time

1. Gianluigi Buffon


Gianluigi Buffon has been voted the greatest goalkeeper of all time by fans ahead of fellow legends Peter Schmeichel and Iker Casillas.

The 42-year-old Italian icon is currently in his second spell at Juventus after leaving Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.


Buffon's success for club and country has seen him capture the Serie A title an incredible 10 times with Juventus and also lifting the World Cup with Italy in 2006.
