How Top Nigerian Football Clubs Ranked in Africa

 

According to the ranking released on November 8, 2020 by FootballDatabase, only 11 Nigerian clubs were ranked in the top 100 and only 6 made the top 50. No Nigerian football club got to the top 20 clubs in Africa.  Let us give you a run down:

1 Enyimba International of ABA remain Nigeria's best club, ranked 22 in Africa,  after the People's elephant garnered 1449 points and moved upward from 25 to 22 in the current rankings. .

2. Plateau United is ranked Nigeria's second best club, placed 32 in Africa with 1430 points and also moved two steps upward from 34 to 32.

3. Kano Pillars is placed 37 in Africa and turn out as Nigeria's third best club with1417 points. The  Sai Masu Gida moved one step upward from 38 to 37.

4. Enugu Rangers International is placed 44 in Africa and 4th best Nigerian club with 1411 points. The Flying Antelopes moved two steps upwards as well, from 46 to 44. Rangers garnered the same point with Gunners of Zimbabwe which is placed one step ahead at 43.

5. Rivers United: it was actually Dolphins FC that is ranked 46 in Africa. Since Dolphins were merged into Rivers United, we decided to place the Port Harcourt warriors as the 5th best Nigerian club. Dolphins garnered 1409 points and moved one step upward from 47 to 46.

6. Lobi Stars is placed as the 49th club in Africa with 1403 points, that made them the sixth best club in Nigeria. The Ortom boys moved one step upward from 50 to 49  Lobi is in the same points with JS Sauora of Algeria which is placed higher at 48.

7. Akwa United is placed 57 in Africa (7th in Nigeria) with 1397 points. Unfortunately, the Uyo boys moved two steps downwards from 55 to 57.

8. Warri Wolves is placed 61 in Africa (8th in Nigeria) with 1388 points. Wolves also moved one step downwards from 60 to 61

9. Abia Warriors is placed 93 in Africa (9th in Nigeria) with1354 points. Abia Warriors moved two steps downwards from 91 to 93.

10. Sunshine Stars is placed 94 in Africa (10th best club in Nigeria) with1354 points. The Owena boys or Akure Gunners, as they are called, moved four steps downwards from 90 to 94, but is in the same points with Abia warriors which is placed one step above them. 

11. Nasarawa United is placed 96 and last Nigerian club in the top 100 clubs in Africa. The Solid Miners garnered1353 points, but moved three steps downwards from 93 to 96. Nasarawa United is in the same points with Monomatapa United of Zimbabwe, which is placed one step higher in the rankings.
